Where do you rank Patrick Mahomes in NFL QB history?

QB lists can be so subjective and era influenced. We look at accolades, championships and longevity but could todays QBs had played in different eras? What could QBs then, do in a defensively handcuffed, inflated numbers era now?

Its easy to leave QBs like Jurgensen, Staubach, Bradshaw, Fouts off lists but these guys excelled before flak jackets or rules changes in 1977-78. Could we truly imagine what they could do today with less offensive line penalties, officials penalizing pass rushes, more pass interference calls, less head-hunting in the middle of the field? I think there should be two lists rather than one for the best ever ...

Here's an angle I factor in: if Patrick Mahomes had retired after his third ring, he would be a HOFer. In six seasons as a starter he had three championships, led comebacks in all three, five Super Bowls, seven straight AFC title games, two MVPs, a passing title, two 5K seasons, two TD titles, and was second in career passer rating.

How many QBs could have retired after Y7 and been no-doubt HOFers? You be the judge:

Sammy Baugh, 1943 - 2x champ, 4x AP1, career leader in passing yards, career leader in passing TDs
Sid Luckman, 1945 - 3x champ, 1943 MVP, single-season record for passing yards, single-season record for pass TDs, 4x AP1

Johnny Unitas, 1962 - 2x champ, 3x passing champ, 4x TD champ, MVP, 2x AP1

I think if they retired then, even with their long waits until the Hall started, Baugh, Luckman and Graham would all be in. Unitas would be in. Peyton would be a maybe. Montana would be a maybe. Brady would be a no.
