How I would change the voting process

I totally agree that improvements are needed and possible. I just don't think transparency would change the outcomes. I'm simply for transparency because it would help everyone know which players need help!

Just two weeks until Hall board meets (week of Aug 3rd)-will see if they make any changes to election process, as Porter suggested several possibilities back in February after the announcement of 2026 class and the controversies that resulted. There might be some or none, comments he made included return to in-person election meeting (great idea), move that election meeting to later in January, removal of selected voters, reduce the size of the selection committee (from current 50), change modern process with cutdown from 25 semifinalist to 15 finalists-change to 25 to 10.

but we don't know what if any changes will be made-like the made changes at the August 2024 Board meeting, we will just have to wait and see after meeting if Hall or others report on revisions to process if any (in August 2024, Hall issued press release a few weeks after meeting, I suspect to distance any outrage away from the ceremony in early August following board meeting when decisions were made)

not sure what you mean as one of the few recent improvements to the election process was a process by which the seniors committee vets a large preliminary list of senior candidates and then list of 50+ semi-finalists, followed by 25+ semi-finalists and then 9 who are considered for 3 senior finalist slot (all those lists are made public), plus we have historians on the committee, and now the voters assigned will rotate each year-these are all huge improvements to how the seniors were selected for decades, with little vetting and no public information on those considered.

now we just need a process that ensures more than 1 can be elected each year.....
