It was the beginning of the end for Fritz Schurmer, although to his credit he didn't have much to work with at this point.

There was much weeping and gnashing of teeth over this one. Twenty-six years later, I've whittled the occasions I'm haunted by it to down to twice a day. Have a DVD copy of this game sitting on my shelf for, oh, five years.

It's still there.
Now how can we POSSIBLY forget that one?? Wasn't it 27-10 in the 4th, actually? That's when I actually started watching the game. Despite this being...MONTANA's Niners and that famous Week #3 triumph at the Vet still quite fresh in mind, I thought the Rams would hold on. Quite a surprise at the time given the road team winning two close games that regular season only for LA go flat in the NFCC. Especially considering them coming off back-to-back wins at Philly & NYG. Just goes to show how much EVEN BETTER the '89 (& '88) Niners were once the playoffs began. And it all began with that D! Millen sure added an extra wrinkle of toughness to Seifert/Lott's bunch.

Yep, with 13:34 to go in the game. Over the next 10 minutes, the Niners scored three touchdowns. The 95-yarder came right after Jim Everett fumbled the ball, with Matt Millen recovering. Then, Ron Brown fumbled the ensuing kickoff, the Niners recovered and six plays later, they scored to take the lead for good.

Some more recent MNF comebacks were Denver's 35-24 win in 2012 over San Diego after trailing 24-0 at the half. This made Josh McDaniels 6-0 as Broncos HC--at which point he should have resigned, since he won five of his final 22 games before getting the ax.

Then, in Week 1 of 2013, the Chargers held a 28-7 third quarter lead over the Texans, but Houston won in a FG at the end, 31-28

In 1986, the Niners led 17-0 at the half, then watched the Giants score three third quarter touchdowns to win 21-17.

John Fox was the head coach for the Broncos in 2012. McDaniels did run his record to 6-0 with a 34-23 win over SD on a MNF game in 2009, but they never trailed by more than 6 points.

Apologies. It just seemed like a McDaniels moment.
