Stafford deserves credit for helping goad Woolen into that ridiculous penalty yesterday as well. Like Namath getting pissed at George Atkinson for running his mouth in the 1968 AFL Championship game, Stafford immediately picked on Woolen for the TD pass. Namath went after Atkinson on a bomb to Maynard that helped decide that game.
When the Rams got the ball back--some on here felt they should have gone for two after the TD--I felt for certain that they would score another one. On 4th down they went for it and came up short ... should they have kicked the FG?
I will admit, with their momentum, they probably should have went for two after Stafford burned Woolen on the TD but McVay probably felt it was too early to chase points? Who would have thought they wouldnt score in the 4th quarter?
Matthew Stafford: HOVG, or HOF?

I definitely thought they should have taken the field goal. You do that and it's a one-point game and you add four minutes to the clock. But that doesn't seem to be the nature of the league right now, so I'm more forgiving.

Its doubtful to me that Stafford will retire. If I am not mistaken, the last NFL player to win MVP and retire is Jim Brown. I think he will be back because of Sean McVay ...
Admittedly though, you could see why Stafford could think about it. He has to be extremely frustrated with his team's last three postseason losses.
--The Rams couldnt really stop Detroit in the 2023/24 playoff, yet Stafford and the Rams offense had their chance to win the game.
On 3rd and 4 at the Detroit 34 yard line, their tackle was called for holding with over 4 minutes left. Stafford threw incomplete but they had to punt from the 44 yrd line. The Lions ran out the clock to win 24-23.
--They beat Darnold and the 14-3 Vikings but once again, had a bad defensive game against Barkley for Philly. Still, Stafford had a chance to win that game in the final 1:20 seconds at the Philly 23 yrd line but a sack by Jalen Carter, forced an incompletion on 4th down.
--Then the failed 4th down from the Seahawks 6 yrd line yesterday. Once again, like the Lions loss, the Seahawks ran out the last four minutes of the clock. Losses that any player would agonize over.
If McVay could get a talented CB in the draft and free agency(Woolen? Who had the boneheaded penalty?) This team can get back quickly.
