Shoulda been the other way around. McDermott did the best job he could with the roster he was given. Collecting random castoffs from other teams for Josh to throw to wasn't going to work.

Even this postseason with the #1 pass defense, the Bills still couldnt hold a team under 30 points. An underachieving postseason defense finally did him in. I thought with the teams effort, much less injuries, he had saved his job.

This is why I felt Harbaugh could get this, the GB or Miami jobs but instead of waiting, he jumped at the opportunity to coach the Giants. The Bills probably felt they needed Beane to transition into the new stadium. Any new coach doesnt have to worry about the legacy of Rich Stadium. In a weird way, considering that McDermott brought playoff football back to Rich Stadium, he goes out with the stadium, as well. He will welcome a change of scenery soon.

Change for the sake of change is a dangerous game.

I'd say the Bills defense really allowed 27 points. Twice, the Broncos recovered a Josh Allen fumble in Buffalo territory. Both times, the offense failed to get a first down and kicked a field goal.

Denver's last two touchdown passes came after Bills defensive backs were injured, and the Broncos went right after their replacements.

In the second quarter, DB Darnell Savage entered the game for Cam Lewis, who had started in place of the injured Jordan Poyer, who had been signed from the practice squad when last years starting safeties Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp both went on IR. Savage was savagely burned, making a poor play.

In the 4th quarter, starting CB Tre White was slightly injured and had to leave the game for a play. Dane Jackson, who had been called up from the practice squad, replaced him, and was burned for the go-ahead touchdown. Buffalo had drafted two cornerbacks in the 2025 draft, but both were injured. (Dorian Strong had started out very... strong, but suffered a neck injury that may be career-ending. Maxwell Hairston suffered a knee injury in the meaningless season finale.)
Last year's 4th CB Ja'Marcus Ingram was waived in December, in order for the Bills to claim Darius Slay on waivers. But Slay refused to report to Buffalo, was put on the reserve list, and Ingram was claimed by the Houston Texans.

Injuries happen to every team, but damn, when it rains, it pours.

I agree. Josh Allen never had a legit #1 wide receiver the entire season. Can't expect him to do it all and be successful.

Youre right, conace21 ... some unfortunate breaks for the Bills defense, especially Savage giving up the TD. They basically held steady despite Allen's turnovers. Like you said, the Broncos took advantage of replacements. With the team's effort, I thought McDermott was safe ... I cant see them going to Brady or Daboll?

I wonder if Frank Reich has decided he is not interested in coaching in the NFL anymore.

Dont know what to think of McCarthy being named HC of Pittsburgh? ... he is a good, stable coach, but I really felt they would go with someone younger, especially on offense, but they mostly like defensive coaches. At least McCarthy has an offensive background. If he can get the right assistants, sky is the limit ... time to trade Watt and get some draft capital ... Would Rodgers come back for McCarthy, or try again with Minn?
