I've seen stuff like this before and it makes me laugh and cry at the same time. :( Wikipedia usually is a "self-correcting" interactive community so it'll probably get returned to normal at some point. Heck, Matt, you could do it. :)

According to the current state of his wikipedia page, he was born 4 years after his rookie year!
Yes, despite me being no ‘expert’ on Dunn, I should/could correct things on wiki!

As for this very topic, I should probably change the name to ‘Steelers/Bears history’. More rich history between these two franchises than one would think. The next game after ’86, three years later, had enough a significance. A turning-point for each team’s season. Bears win at the ’Burgh to get them further above-500 at 6-4, but lose-out rest of way to tragic 6-10 finish! Steelers (third shutout now suffered) drop further on down to 4-6, only to...well, you know!

Next meeting between the two is another significant one! Ditka, Singletary, and Fridge’s final stand at Soldier in a 30-6 win over top-seed-bound Steelers. Cowher’s first year at helm. The next one - in ’95 - O’Donnell’s comeback at Soldier, sparking a streak that’ll eventually lead the ’Burgh back to the Bowl for the first time in 16 years!

Can also discuss the 1st-Rd draft-pick ‘sweepstakes’ between the two in ’69 along with the two almost playing for the NFLC in ’63!

’84 Steelers vs ’84 Bears another worthy-enough convo.

Back to ’86, interesting halftime show (score 3-3) with Costas & Rashad. Both discuss, basically, how it’s fine and dandy for defending-Champs to be 10-pt faves, but what good is it if Bears’ O have been struggling as of late? Fencik’s quotes showed throughout game fully supporting McMahon for QB. Very nice interview with Max McGee and the ‘Hammer’, both together, in regards to upcoming 20th anniversary of SBI. I didn’t know Williamson started his pro career with the Steelers (in 1960).

Lupe Sanchez! Watching him in this ’86 game makes you wonder what could have been!

Lupe Sanchez indeed. I recall watching him and Don Rogers have big games in the Rose Bowl against Michigan and Illinois.

Real good interview with Lupe Sanchez here...https://pittsburghsportsdailybulletin.w ... 1986-1988/

And a nice anecdote about the very '86 game at Chicago to boot! To experience playing on any NFL team for any limited amount of time would have to be something to feel very grateful about; and the same would go for the nadir of the Noll Era ('86-'88). To get to meet some of those from the '70s who were now on their way out along with those who just hopped onboard who would star in the Cowher Era...Tony Dungy mentoring you, etc. Still, if only he could have at least experienced just one more year in the 'Burgh!

Oh, and by the way, he also played for George Allen in the USFL!

Yeah, bringing back an old topic. One which, according to the quote above, I started to turn into a general 'Steelers/Bears history' thread.

This week's Pit@Chi game inspires this revamp. I'm wondering if this can possibly be the first time ever that both teams ever met while each were leading their division? Remember, they did not play against each other in 2001. Bears finished in 5th-place the previous year, but considering that state of scheduling at that immediate moment, they may have not met each other anyway even if the Bears finished above 5th in 2000.

Hmm, I'm really beginning to think that this very well may, indeed, be a first.

Well, while we're on this revived thread, anything else to say about its headline - '1980 - Bears at Steelers, Week #4'? Or any other games between the two along with the other ones mentioned? Steelers/Bears history in-general? Tomorrow's game? Thanks in-advance to anyone who can confirm that this actually is the first game between them while both were leading their divisions.

Bears lead the series, 19-8-1, winning their...OUCH!...first TEN games against Pittsburgh! Steelers biggest streak over Chicago is three - '95, '98, & '05. Three overtime games between the two and one TIE (you know what game THAT was).

That 1995 game is so fascinating- Chicago ran for more yards and had fewer penalties, but Pittsburgh had the ball for 40:25 despite an unusually low 85 rushing yards. Multiple lead changes, a combined NINE turnovers

When Barry Minter scored a defensive touchdown, it looked like Pittsburgh's season was slipping

Critical in this game also was a Kevin Butler missed FG from 44 yards out that could have put them up 10 that led to the tie.

Pittsburgh: 12 3rd down conversions to Chicago's 3

In the long run, the Steelers wouldn't have been threatened in the AFC Comedy Central- their closest competition was Cincinnati, maybe they clinch the AFC Central a week later in Oakland- but that basically was a turning point for Chicago. They didn't recover from this game for years afterwards.

Had they won, they're a 10-6 playoff team

Steelers 21, Bears 17 at the half! Not bad! Let's pull it off!

'95 game was mentioned CBS pre-game show, Cowher present. Learned that it was the ONLY time Steelers beat Bears in Chi-town!

Yeah, that '95 Bears installment noticeably better than '94! Such an historically weak playoff team '94 was yet they, instead of '95, not only makes it, but wins convincingly at Minny. Yet another genuine example of Viking post-season under-achievements around that time; WORSE than '91 being Redskins, at least, a 'strong' 9-7 team as well as defending-Champs and HC'd by Gibbs.

Back to 2001...in my opinion, had Steelers played Bears they win by more than 2TDs if at Heinz, more than a TD if at Soldier. Two 13-3 teams distant from each other.

I really wish it was the Bears playing Steelers in SBXLV instead, lol.

'84...as intriguing a match it would have been, and anything's possible with Noll as skipper, but not liking Steelers' chances against that year-away from Super Bowl Shuffle squad, even IF Fuller is starter!

PS - Western PA/Pitt alum DITKA should have been a STEELER!

I don't know...I would have had Boswell kick it into OT. Serious! The way kickers these days (Boswell in-particular) can boot them...may as well.

Wouldnt have envisioned this game being so high scoring? Big win for Bears though, who are getting close to their first winning season since 2018. Long suffering Bears fans deserve it.
