Are there individual stats for blocked kicks?
Was wondering who are some of the all-time leaders in blocked kicks? Is that kept as an individual statistic?
Was curious because a Packer of my youth - Gary Lewis - seemed to block a few per season in the early 80s.

Re: Are there individual stats for blocked kicks?
Lewis apparently blocked 12 kicks (9 FGs, 3 PATs) in the first 12 games the Packers used him on the special teams, including three field goals and a PAT in the playoffs against the Cardinals and at least two PATs (against Buffalo and Chicago) that he blocked over the crossbar for successful scores.
But, no, that's not kept. You'd have to go through game books, and even then you'll miss some. The St. Louis playoff game, for instance, saw Lewis originally credited with one of each until the Packers looked at the film and saw he deflected two other FG attempts.

I do know that during the one season they had Ted Hendricks, the Packers set an NFL record with 12 blocked kicks, seven of them by Hendricks. I believe he blocked 25 in all during his career.

Deflected kicks do NOT count as blocked kicks. If the ball goes beyond the line of scrimmage it does not count as a blocked kick.Throwin_Samoan wrote: ↑Tue Oct 14, 2025 11:47 pm

I think he meant to specify that Punts that go beyond the line of scrimmage aren't counted as blocks. If you tip and Extra Point or Field Goal and it goes beyond the line but not through the goal posts those are counted. In fact the numbers reported for Ted Hendricks are a tiny bit inflated due to this.Ten Minute Ticker wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 8:20 pmThat’s odd.TodMaher wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 1:21 pmDeflected kicks do NOT count as blocked kicks. Lewis had 9 in the regular season. 1 PAT and 3 FG in 1982 and 2 PAT and 3 FG in 1983.Throwin_Samoan wrote: ↑Tue Oct 14, 2025 11:47 pm Lewis apparently blocked 12 kicks (9 FGs, 3 PATs) in the first 12 games the Packers used him on the special teams, including three field goals and a PAT in the playoffs against the Cardinals and at least two PATs (against Buffalo and Chicago) that he blocked over the crossbar for successful scores.

All Time I have the following leaders:
Page - 27
Hendricks - 23
Whitsell - 22
Blair - 20
McDole - 19
Youngstrom - 17
Shaun Rogers - 17
Irv Cross - 16
Wahoo McDaniel - 16
Peppers - 13
Hendricks had a couple blocked Punts that went just past the LOS therefore his typically published number is technically too high. Whitsell, may have had a couple more as things get spottier with a few missing in the 60's. Swede Youngstrom could have had many more as things are VERY spotty in the 20's! Rogers and Peppers are the top recent guys, top active player is Denico Autry with 11 (I think he's technically on IR right now) and Calais Campbell has 9 - but at his age he's probably not going much further.
I've got a list of 4,574 blocks logged with 8% or 347 having no assigned individual.
If anyone knows of individuals who blocked specific kicks in specific games prior to 1960 please drop my a line 39% are missing from the 20's, 27% from the 30's, 27% from the 40's, 8% from the 50's and 10% from the 60's down to 3% in the 70's.
