Probably one of those things where you can look it up on individual player split pages, but for the whole league a leaderboard would need to be constructed.

So very quick run through of Reggie White’s possible 3rd down sacks in 1985 using Pro Football Reference’ play by play tab. Not Splits.

6.5 3rd down sacks. 13 for the year.

White, 1986, same method: 8 3rd down sacks, 18 for the year

Lawrence Taylor 1986: 6 3rd down sacks, 20.5 sacks for the year
