Lions' 8.8 against the Bears last Sunday, of course, inspires this.
Thanks in-advance to anyone who can come up with the answer!

10.61, Jets vs Colts, 9/24/1972. Namath threw 6 TDs. A lot of people remember this game.
Next highest is 2017 Chiefs in a 38-31 loss to the Jets.
8.81 by the Lions is in 72nd place.

Thanks, JayZ!
So I guess this is another example of one of these 'today' talk shows giving wrong info. They said it was the first time since 1961.
So Alex Smith, not Patrick, a part of that?? Hmm, looks like a Hell of an undercover 'Classic' game!
Thank God for you all hence PFRA!!
Re: All-time record of most yards-per-play by a team in a single game?
My initial thought on this was Van Brocklin's 554-yard passing game against the NY Yanks on 9/28/1951. Per PFR, the Rams ran 29 times and attempted 42 passes for 735 net yards, or 10.35 yards per play.
Re: All-time record of most yards-per-play by a team in a single game?
496 yards on 15 completions and 6 touchdowns. This is almost impossible to do in a video game much less real life.
In the other game against Baltimore that year he went 5/16 for 228 yards. 2 touchdowns and 3 ints
So Namath completed 20 passes against the Colts in 1972...for 724 yards and 8 touchdowns
