Exactly, he was given leave to combat the charges in court ... then put on a reserve list. You have to wonder if having him around ... not playing a lesser player cost the Broncos offense some effectiveness.

Steelers sure got their, FWIW, revenge on them from the obvious year before in Week #6 - this one at Mile High as well. Merrill Hoge had another good game but, of course, Eric Green the real star with, yes, just 4 receptions for 28 yards but...THREE TDS! I remember not making too big a stink of it though because Denver already looked on-course for a 1988 redux. And looking at the stats just now, I totally forgot that Denver was actually up by ten at two different points early on. I thought it was all-Steelers all game. I didn't see the game at the time, just heard the final from an excited dorm-mate who also was a Steeler-fan and was happy.

FWIW said "for what its worth" is said because, sadly, they just missed in the very end, this big win perhaps was the indicator that the 'Burgh was going to make a move from that real bad start (Walton relatively-so simplifying things) to at least start flirting with getting back to the playoffs which they, indeed, almost did ('90 was '89 in-reverse).

As you mentioned CB an issue... Robbins more of a safety tried to replace Braxton.

That's a reason why they should have drafted CB Darryl Lewis in Round 2 (Todd Lyght was available in Round 1, but I would have drafted Herman Moore or Eric Swann if it was up to me).

Nice video! I've seen other stuff from him prior. Maybe he should be apart of this site and posting stuff. I'd like to think that Buffalo still gets there anyway as well as Denver still faltering but, at least, worth bringing up. But maybe it WAS a true ripple-effect. We'll never know for sure. But a nice turn-of-events! I forgot about the game, to be honest, but maybe I did see highlights of it in the dorm TV room on NFL Prime Time that evening (while, maybe, drinking a "Slurpee" or "water" from a non-see-thru plastic 7-Eleven Slurpee container with straw).

Just as Denver may have been thinking of this game the following year in the AFCCG, sure-enough the Bills were thinking of that home-loss on MNF in '89 as THIS game was going on!

Despite a certain team starting off bad, then rallying only for Cody Carlson to knock them (the #1 defense) off on the final Sunday Night, 1990 was a nice season to look back on! A nice one.
