That game kept Denver alive until Sunday, when they were eliminated by the Jets and Patriots. As for the above mentioned 1995 Sea@Den game, that loss eliminated Denver. They would have made the playoffs with that win and the season finale victory they had over the Raiders.CSKreager wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 2:35 pm 1985 Week 16
a rare friday night football game
DEN rallied from down 17-0
One of only 2 Elway 400 yard games that kept DEN alive for a few days in the playoff race until the Jets/Pats slammed that door on Sunday
Also Seattle doinked a potential game tying 52 yard FG wide right to cap off the Seahawks' strange season where they alternated 2 game winning and losing streaks all year
Notable Bronco-Seahawk games!

Re: Notable Bronco-Seahawk games!
I have a thing for the Warren Moon Seahawk years 1997 and 1998. I stopped caring as much about the NFL in 97 after the Oilers left Houston, then didn't watch any football at all in 1998(I got interested in it again in the 1999 playoffs and was back hooked in 2000 season as build to the Texans launch started). From what I can tell I missed some really good stuff in 98, and in general missed the whole Warren Moon run with the Seahawks those 2 years. Moon was always my favorite in Houston, I rooted for him in Minnesota those years(that was just a cool 90's team) but seemed like he was done after the Vikings benched him in 96, he was like 40 years old. So I was surprised to see that he actually had one of if not his best season in 97 when Friesz went down. The highlight reel of touchdown bombs from Moon to Joey Galloway is just as beautiful to me as any Gale Sayers highlight reel, poetry in motion. Those 2 were made for each other. What a dream duo looking back, Galloway was exactly the type of receiver Moon always needed and never really had. Moon wins 7 games for Seattle as a starter in 97, leads the NFL in average yards per game, and has 4 fourth quarter game winning drives, I'm assuming the most of his career in a season(he just wasn't clutch like that in Houston).
But what I'm really hung up on is the Seahawks vs Broncos games those years, 41 year old Moon vs Elway with the loaded Broncos those years. The game in Denver in 97 was the good one that I watched recently and loved. Denver was 7-1 and Seattle was 5-3, both teams really loaded with talent all over, epic back and forth game, both Moon and Elway have great games, Denver wins it in the end on a FG 30-27. You never hear a lot about that one but it was a great one. Very interesting little period there with these 2 teams.

Seattle shot themselves in the foot with two mistakes in the 1997 game: they fumbled the 2nd half kickoff that was returned for a touchdown and on the do or die 4th down, Blades and Galloway ran into each other when it looked like one of them would catch a 1st downShinobiMusashi wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 9:57 am I have a thing for the Warren Moon Seahawk years 1997 and 1998.
