Best ever Broncos team that isn’t ’97, ’98, or 2015?

Reading that article about Plummer, it didnt seem like he wanted to continue playing for Mike Shanahan. He didnt play great but the team was still 7-4 when he got benched. You would think he would want to go to TB but his heart wasnt into football anymore.
He seemed too sensitive over his benching, despite success. Was he not into a HC that pushed him harder? I feel he could have been successful had he joined the Bucs.

Maybe. He said in 2013 (on 104.3 The Fan in Denver) that he would have retired if the Broncos won SB 40 in 2005, which indicates to me that he didn't love the game as much as guys like Manning and Brady.

Plummer would get replaced by Cutler soon afterward which I feel in hindsight, was a mistake. Why Plummer didnt try to start for another team and resume his career is a mystery?
I think the 2003 Broncos were better than the 2005 version because of depth. Plummer missed five games in 03, and they still went 10-6. The 2005 Broncos were just luckier because of health. If Plummer missed that many games in 05, they may not have made the playoffs in a tougher AFC.
The 2003 Broncos were a paper tiger. Only 2 of their 10 wins were against teams that finished above .500 (compared to the 2005 team winning 7 times against teams with winning records)

The way they got humiliated by Indy was further proof that Miami should have gotten in. Denver only made it because they got to play awful OAK/SD twice while Miami had to play Tennessee.

I'm not too high on either Bronco team. However, the 2003 Broncos didn't have Plummer in the lineup against four teams that finished with winning records (@MIN, @BAL, NE, @GB. Against the Packers, he was held out because the Broncos didn't have anything to play for).

Then, @KC in Week 5, the Chiefs (who only won 24-23) benefitted from several missed clips on a 93-yard punt return TD by Dante Hall.

In 2005, they were down 14-3 against the Chargers in Week 2 when Champ Bailey changed the course of their season with a TD INT in the third quarter. Also, against Washington, they won on a controversial two-point stop late in the game, and they had to go to OT to beat Dallas.

2003 DEN needed a last gasp drive just to force OT at home vs horrible Cleveland (a week after demolishing KC), DET missed an XP with a chance to tie when they never won on the road, and they struggled against arguably Cowher's worst PIT team.

I agree with you about the other two. However, a washed-up Steve Beuerlein was QB against the Steelers, not Plummer.
