1987 Gillette MVP trivia
1987 Gillette MVP trivia
So I came across my old Gillette Cavalcade of Sports VHS....they award the 1987 Gillette 'People's Choice" NFL MVP award. A panel of experts pick one candidate for each of the six divisions, and then fans call a 1-800 number to submit their vote for the MVP. So...can you guess who the six candidates were? And who ended up winning the MVP for the 1987 season?

Re: 1987 Gillette MVP trivia
Here are my selections for the All-Time Gillette Team. They were, you might say, a cut above the rest....
Jim Gillette HB Rams
Walker Gillette WR San Diego
Willie Blade DT Dallas
Bennie Blades DB Detroit
Tyrell Shavers WR Buffalo
Tyrone Shavers WR Cleveland
Ed Beard LB San Fran
Tom Beard C Buffalo
Dana Stubblefield DT San Fran
Interestingly, no Razorbacks among this crowd.

Keith Burns and Jeff Wiska didn't quite make it.

Missed it by a razor-thin margin in the voting, unfortunately.

Re: 1987 Gillette MVP trivia
That obviously makes Joe Montana both NFC West representative and MVP. Which I feel belongs to Rice, because of all those records he broke, but voters weren't fair that year.Bryan wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 12:01 pmYour AFC choices are all correct. Montana is the NFC West rep, but he was not voted MVP.Crazy Packers Fan wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 2:03 pm That obviously makes Joe Montana both NFC West representative and MVP. Which I feel belongs to Rice, because of all those records he broke, but voters weren't fair that year.
