I don't remember the opponent or year but I vaguely recall the circumstances.
It was the end of the first half and the Niners lined up in what looked like a kick off formation.
The announcers explained what was going on but the crowd (at Candlestick?) was completely silent... they had no idea why San Francisco appeared to be kicking off from mid-field after a fair catch with just a few seconds left in the half.

I remember as the kick was being made one lone voice cried out from the crowd, loud enough to be heard on the TV, demanding to know "WHY?!?"

Does anyone else recall this?
Any ideas of how to search for the missing moment?
Might be this one from the first post?

Good memory! Here's the clip of it - It was Mike Cofer against the Vikings (via the Quirky Research YouTube channel!) Sure enough, you hear somebody yell, "WHY?" at the end. I gotta tell you, it sure was wonderful hearing Summerall and Madden again in their prime. Highly enjoyable clip.

It was especially impressive that Madden outlined what the 49ers were about to do before they did it.

The actual kick turned out to be a really lousy effort, though.

Thank you and apologies to Mr. Turney...
I read through that list several times looking for something between 1984 and 1988 (seasons) and didn't see a thing... that's because I didn't notice there was a separate section for "Playoffs."
