Redskins 31 Lions 7 -- Riggins 119 yrds rushing
Redskins 21 Vikings 7 -- Riggins 185 yrds rushing TD
Redskins 31 Cowboys 17 -- Riggins 140 yrds rushing 2 TDs
Redskins 27 Dolphins 17 -- Riggins 166 yrds rushing TD MVP

I agree that Moseley was a strong contender for MVP but luckily, he never had to attempt any FG longer than 50 yards.
The MVP is based on the regular season. The playoffs don't matter in that respect. Which is why I posted what I did.

Why would the distance matter? His longest was 48. Besides Septien and Miller, the longest made was 51. 17 teams attempted 1 or less FG from 50 on. Would 1 miss from 50 matter?

Rice did feast on bad teams. He also feasted on the Bears for three touchdowns, all from Steve Young. He also feasted on the Browns for three touchdowns.
After looking at the highlights, Rice had three TD's, but one of them was a short TD under five yards (on a play that looked like a sprint out right play where he was uncovered). Also, Montana spread the ball around to several different receivers in that game.

A five yard touchdown still counts for six points. And even if you did remove it from consideration (for some strange reason), Rice still had 6 catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Point remains the same. Rice feasted on bad teams. He also feasted on good teams, like the Browns.

With regards to your final sentence, I'm not sure what the point of that was. The five starting skill position players were the only ones to catch a pass in that game: Rice, Clark, Frank, Craig, Rathman. That's pretty normal.
