The passing of John Robinson last Monday made me think of all the talent he had on his USC teams. I think they may have had greater talent than any college team, except for possibly Notre Dame just after World War II and USC under John McKay in the early 1970's (the Wild Bunch).
One player who likely should be in the Hall of the Very Good is safety Dennis Smith. He was an outstanding player with the Broncos. Both he and Bill Thompson seem to have good cases for the Hall of the Very Good.

Re: Dennis Smith
Good call Halas Hall ... I also feel Smith and Thompson have HOF cases and were underrated. Smith I feel, was better than Atwater.
Without John Robinson, there is no Jeff Fisher, the King Of The 7-9 coaching season ... tough coach though.
Robinson also coached the greatest defensive player in the history of the NFL, IMO ... Ronnie Lott
