what college QBs did you consider "can't miss" prospects over the years?

Brian Brohm. When he was drafted us Packers fans thought that Brohm might be the better option at QB over Aaron Rodgers. His training camp performance quickly killed that thought.

You should say "some of us Packers fans," because I certainly didn't think that way :D

At the time, there was a scouting report on this extinct website that said that you will need a new QB in a few years if you take him. That turned out to be true. So, I don't think he is better, even if he ends up in KC (Reid wanted him, but the Broncos mistakenly traded up to get Lynch).

I think Brohm was projected to be the overall #1 pick after his junior year, but he didn't do as well his Senior year and ended up hurting his draft stock. All I remember of Brohm is his older brother constantly yelling at him on the Louisville sidelines.

OUCH! ... Though Cook had a terrible injury
I never understood what was so bad about Tim Couch that he didn't at least stick around for a long time as a backup. Was this really an era where a reliable 75 PR was completely untenable? Honestly, he should've gotten another chance on a team besides the Browns like Baker did.
IIRC Couch had a pretty serious shoulder injury at one point...tried out for a lot of teams. Showed up with the Jags at one point looking scientifically enhanced...and washed out.

After his play in that game I was convinced he would be a star (or at least a starter) in the NFL.
I was very glad to see the 49ers drafted him but he never became a star (and only started a few games).

Shows you what a great evaluator of talent I am...

This is really weird re: Dorsey...because his arm strength was terrible.

Another guy I wonder what happened to: David Klingler. If I had been alive then, that's a guy I would've thought couldn't bust. The OG Joe Burrow.

That was the offense (R&S) and Houston's proclivity for running up the score (e.g. infamous post-SMU death penalty game) and padding stats (e.g. Klingler v. Eastern Washington) in that era. Particularly against lesser opponents -- their non-conf schedule and whoever was at the bottom of the SWC.

Andre Ware to David Klingler to Jimmy Klingler, the latter put up huge numbers also but a coaching change for his Sr. year possibly cost him being the 3rd 'bust' in a row, at least if NFL teams hadn't caught on yet.

If it's more your era; college stats wise at least, think Tech with Kingsbury, Symons, Cumbie, Hodges, Harrell, to Potts and why none of them were first round picks/did anything in the NFL.

He was certainly sold that way in the media after the draft. I figured that he'd get picked up by another team but he simply vanished.
