Speaking of Dalvin Cook, the Cowboys plan on activating him this weekend or the next ... could he have something left and help the offense? With Tua activated for the Dolphins, could Mostert start running with authority soon? Hill and Waddle might finally have breakout games ...
Big game for the Bengals if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive and can Cleveland upset the Ravens with Jameis Winston?
The defense has usually played well against them.

Having a "handcuff" to your top pick (his back-up in case he gets injured) is a pretty standard safeguard in fantasy football.74_75_78_79_ wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 7:09 pmPlaying FFB for the first time in over ten years. Also, the first time ever for money as well as with people who I see and actually know (all of them coworkers). I was the #1 draft pick and picked CMC. I also picked Pacheco as well. It's not an excuse, I think I'd be struggling anyway, but I am at the bottom at 1-6 thus far; everyone else 3-4 or better, 6 of 10 teams make the playoffs. Of course me being old-school, I asked the LM ahead of time that it be 4-of-10 instead, but I should be glad its what it is (my only chance to rally at this point).Brian wolf wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 5:20 pm Yep CMC ... think of how many people put him on their fantasy rosters? The 49ers might have known he would miss time but kept it under wraps?
It's simply an example - Fantasy of Reality - that having the #1 draft pick isn't "everything". I, honestly, was leery about CMC given his injury past (maybe he hit his ceiling). But I simply could not try to get "cute" and assume something that may never even happen. But it did and that's that. Yes, picking 10th and (snake draft) you pick #11 right away is maybe not so bad (as opposed to not picking again until #20).
If you draft a top running back try to always grab his back up. I was fortunate that my opponents didn't do that and I was able to grab Jordan Mason in about the 9th round of both my drafts. He has helped a lot this year.
One advantage of being in last place early on is you usually (depending on format) get first shot at the waiver wire.
Picking up someone like Kareem Hunt or Tucker Kraft (both of whom were probably not drafted) can save your season.
Always (always, always) peruse the waiver wire and see who might be available... it can (and often does) mean the difference between a losing and winning team!
And, most of all, don't forget to have fun!!
Also, don't despair at 1-6!
Last season in one league I was 0-6... and proceeded to win out, finish 8-6 and in first place thus earning a bye (which I sorely needed as I would've lost that week had I played) and... won the league championship by .05 points!! 117.05 to 117.
They don't call it fantasy for nuthin'!!

Prescott will have to get his team over the hump against SF, if they want to ever take that next step. The Niners live rent free in the Cowboys' heads.
Big win for Brissett and the Patriots after a week of soft turmoil. Seems like a long time ago when they got whipped in the Meadowlands. Stick a fork in the Jets but we will see? Is the year just about over for the Bengals?
Huge win for Jameis Winston and the Browns. Could Lamar Jackson be envious of Henry's success? He sure didnt want to give him the ball today, or was Monken just too pass happy?
The Dolphins played better with Tua back but let the Cards take the game. Bears let their game slip away as well. Willis in GB helps the team win again.

Thanks for the feedback! Of course the WW. Always have applied that. One problem...the players that I've been picking up before everyone else have been the wrong ones hence my last-place standing, lol. Hunt and Tucker already taken. Always knew about handcuffing as well. I just didn't bother which, perhaps, I should have. And, yes, I'm still having fun - even though I am now...1-7. Properly fill my starting roster every week (stay active), and try to play spoiler from here at the very least.JuggernautJ wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 12:40 amHaving a "handcuff" to your top pick (his back-up in case he gets injured) is a pretty standard safeguard in fantasy football.74_75_78_79_ wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 7:09 pmPlaying FFB for the first time in over ten years. The last time I played, more than 10 years ago, I ran a few leagues. One had eight teams ('Eight is Enough', main bulletin board pic being of the Bradfords in that huddle during opening credits, League Champ gets the 'Dick Van Patten Trophy', I won one of them - my only ever FFB Title; other bulletin board stuff to scroll down to being basic NFL pics old and new, and a video I found on YouTube to click on...a montage of Dianne Kay's acting moments - most of them EiE - to Alan O'Day's "Undercover Angel", video no longer up) three teams make the playoffs (a #3@#2 Semifinal, 1-Seed of course having a bye, and then the LCG penultimate week of the actual NFL season). Three weeks to go and I was the only one mathematically eliminated but still tried bringing enthusiasm to the other 7 owners - posting stuff on the bulletin board, listing what each had to do to make the final three, 'game of the week' poll who you think will win, etc, and...trying to play spoiler, '81 Bears style!
Yes, NEVER should the FFB season (championship game) still be going on the final week of the actual NFL season! The league I'm in now, I couldn't influence the old-school "just 4 teams make playoffs" but was able to get the LM to make sure of the "season over by Wk#18".

Why is Kirk "YOU LIKE THAT" Cousins only good against TB? While the Bucs have been exposed as a bad team with a disgraceful defense, though, I was surprised to see Baker keep up his production without his main weapons. Cade Otton looks like the TE waiver add of the year now. Baker will throw 2 quick picks with the game on the line, but God dammit, I love his fuck it chuck it garbage time gunslinging hero ball anyways. Like a full season of prime Fitzmagic. Forget 30-30, how about 40-30?
Meanwhile, I'm getting a bad case of Jameis Vu. I know full well I've seen this act play out before, but I'll be damned if I don't fall for it all over again every single time... screw it, TONIGHT WE DINE ON WS!

Re: 2024 Season Notes Wks 7-10
Big loss for the Texans with Diggs lost for the year, whose career is also at a crossroads. His brother is facing scrutiny for the Cowboys, where a reporter put him on the spot for his lack of effort on a tackle. Nothing new there ...
The Steelers gave the Giants plenty of chances to tie the game last night but Jones flopped. Time for this team to move on from him. Flacco has replaced Richardson at QB.
Dionte Johnson will join the Ravens but its a tough move. Receivers want the ball and Jackson aint the best at getting it to them. We will see if Johnson shows patience on a talented team and knows his role. I thought the Ravens might try to get a talented CB like Gonzalez from the Patriots?

Why would the Pates trade a young rising player who is good? That is exactly the type of player they should keep.Brian wolf wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 2:23 pm Dionte Johnson will join the Ravens but its a tough move. The Johnson trade is weird because what I saw reported was the Ravens are getting a 6th round pick and are losing a 5th round pick. That could be a difference of about 20 slots when you figure compensatory picks will get in the way but figure the Ravens will be picking near the end of rounds and the Panthers at the beginning of rounds. If the trade was simply Johnson for a pick, that would have seemed fair enough to me.

Youre right JWL ... but this offense needs playmakers for Maye, along with linemen. At least Gonzalez--who has missed time with injury as well--would be a bargaining chip.
