Belichick and Carroll are not eligible, which is why they are not in the list. Both become eligible next year.
Oh. So they coached in 2023, which counts as the class of 2024 in a sense. They are not coaching in 2024, which counts as the class of 2025. That's their one-year wait, and then they are eligible in 2026. That it?
Correct. There was some confusion about that, so the Hall made sure that the selectors knew that Belichick and Carroll had to wait until next year (voting for the Class of 2026).

Thanks man! The confusion remains, because today's PFHOF press release says this:

"The new bylaws also reduced the waiting period for Coach candidates from five seasons out of the game to one season out of the game. Individuals who last coached in the 2023 season or earlier are eligible for the Class of 2025."

Yep, great assistant coaches but no Parker or Shaw ... Fisher?
The season doesnt end until after the SB, which is why I felt Belichick wouldnt be eligible till 2026 ...

Totally. And obviously Ken knows better than any of us! I just saw the press release today and it said 2025, so I thought the committee had left him off, perhaps out of prep for him coaching next year.

I feel he will coach as well but if he is eligible, why not nominate him? Confusing.

They need to be out one season when the voting commences. They last coached the 2023 season, meaning that they need to be out the 2024 season before they become eligible. Therefore, since voting is happening now, they cannot be considered (it hasn't been a year yet) until this season is over.

Not sure if they will pull a Parcells and wait a little bit of time before they nominate him. Clark Judge and I talked a little about it on my podcast.

Jeff Fisher is a mind-boggling selection, yeah. Old Mr. 8-8 himself

Ill agree 100% who would you have nominated instead of Jeff "Old Mr. 8-8" himself i would have preferred any of the following coaches and corodinator

Blanton Collier

Monte Kiffin

Voters are seemingly done with Buddy Parker, but for him to be gone -- and Fish there --- that is a head scratcher.

If Parker is done ... then fine, whatever ... but use the slot for more than a mediocre coach, I get that Fish
got to a Super Bowl and had another excellent team ... but come on ...
