Coaches in 2024 that could go either way

Post by SeahawkFever »

Awhile back I asked if there were any current players that stood out to you as bordering on a Hall of Fame career.

Are there any coaches that are currently coaching that you could see being considered on the borderline of the Hall of Fame right now that could go either way?

Tomlin, Carroll, McCarthy, Harbaugh, Payton. Are they borderline? Do they all go in?

Cowher went in, how do you keep Tomlin out?

If Harbaugh wins another championship, he will get elected but like Tomlin, will probably get elected regardless of a second championship. I feel this year could be big for Tomlin but they need another productive receiver.

I dont feel the others will get elected, though they are borderline.
Maybe Carroll or Payton down the line?

I think Tomlin and Payton are going in. Carroll probably too. Harbaugh (I assume we mean John) may need another title, and I don't think McCarthy has a good enough reputation. Is McVay approaching the bubble? Andy Reid went from one of these guys to top 5 all-time pretty quick, so plenty can still change.

If Green Bay has another gaudy regular season/playoff meltdown at what point is Matt LaFleur going to feel pressure? He's had FOUR awful postseason losses yet people think he's bulletproof

LaFleur hasn't had FOUR awful postseason losses. I don't think people hold the 2019 or 2023 losses to the 49ers against him, they were on the road. 2020 against TB and 2021 against SF more so. Also had a road playoff win against Dallas last year.

I dunno, the first half of the NFC Championship in 2019/20 was awful for the Packers and LaFleur. They even had a chance to make the playoffs in 2022, Rodgers last year but played uninspired at home against the Lions to end the regular season.
LaFleur gets a pass for having a good regular season record but the postseasons can be frustrating for Packers fans. Can Love get them to the SB?
