Sad to hear about Mercury. He came to our high school to speak one time. I snuck out of class and ran down to the office to meet him, wearing a Dolphins shirt. He showed me his Super Bowl ring. Pretty cool moment for a 15-year old that I'll never forget.

Gene Cronin and Joe Schmidt, former roommates in Detroit, died within 6 days of each other. Had the pleasure of interviewing both, and they were both great guys. I'm not sure if there's anyone else left from the Lions' last title team from 67 years ago. Ken Russell, maybe??
