Wolf was surprised and appalled by how unfocused and undisciplined the team was under Rhodes. Sloppy tackling and mental errors became the rule instead of the exception in Green Bay. He was wise to realize his mistake and act quickly.

I agree with that and will add that Rhodes was terrible at clock management. In their loss to the Panthers, Favre and other players were begging Rhodes to use timeouts as Carolina move closer to scoring the go-ahead TD. Rhodes didn't do it and Steve Beuerlein scored to win the game with no time left on the clock. Rhodes lost many players and quite a few fans.
