John S. ("Steve") Okoniewski died Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home in Green Bay, WI.
He had a 6-year NFL career as a defensive end from 1972 through 1977.
He started with the Bills (1972-1973) went to Green Bay (1974-1975) then to the St Louis Cardinals (1976-1977)
In 1977, after being released mid-season he signed with the Cleveland Browns.
He did not play for the Browns but was on the regular roster for 3 weeks, then went to their CAB squad for 1 week before being released

Benjamin Gay, former running back for the Browns during the 2001 NFL season, died in a car accident in Colorado on July 29, 2024. He was 44.
Gay’s only season with the Browns was 2001, when he had 51 carries for 172 yards (3.4 per carry) and one touchdown.
He was waived in April 2002, then signed and waived by the Colts and decided to retire.
