#5 -- Gifford
#4 -- Robustelli/R Brown tied
#3 -- Taylor
#2 -- Hein
#1 -- Tunnell

Yes, Robustelli starred with the Rams first, but the Giants defense became great as soon as he joined them in 1956. He had to have easily had over 100 sacks based upon his numbers from the 1960s.
Tunnell... how could I leave off "The Giants Offense on Defense?"
Good call... I don't know if I'd have him first but certainly top 5-10...
I wonder where they'll put Bavaro (given recency bias).

Hubbard certainly belongs on a Packers list... but the Giants?
Maybe the thinking is because he was an All Pro (Green Bay Press Gazette) on the 1927 Championship team?

Not crazy. Very reasonable. Did his best work as NYG ... if they are putting guys who played
2½ years as a NYG ahead of him ... then him playing for Chi and Cle cannot be held
against him.

If they hadn't put Cal Hubbard to high, then maybe you could think, "Well, 4 years
is not all that long as a NYG"

But ... given Hubbard ...

If guys like Hubbard and Brian Kelly are on the list, I'm guessing there are going to be someone notable that is completely left off. Someone like Joe Morrison, Homer Jones or (gasp) Del Shofner.

JuggernautJ is right ... with Tunnell, Hein and Taylor, each could be #1, it's very close. Many will take Taylor which is understandable. Eli will probably be top 5, but Conerly, Tittle and Simms had better winning pcts as starters. People forget Simms was part of two championships. Then there are the receivers, with Shofner, Toomer, Jones and Rote possibly in the top 20-30? Tiki Barber will be high as well and Bavaro will be intriguing because of his importance to their two championships despite injuries.

Can Jimmy Patton, Huff and Strahan crack the Top 6-10?

Though I don't support Carson in the HOF, he will be in the Top 15-20 himself.

Is Barnes hurt by the bad playoff record? 0-6 in championship games, only 1 INT in the playoffs. I mainly remember him complaining about calls from the highlights. He never had the big play, Eastern Conference was weaker during his playing days.

I don't think the people voting would have done that deep of a dive. It's possible, but in general, even sportswriters don't look all that close. At least when I have had interactions with them.

I'd have ranked Elliott higher than Diehl. I know the "alls" and everything but Elliott played LT in era when it mattered and was super hard to get past some of the top 3-4 guys.

Diehl more versatile --- I guess.

But I always thought Elliott a pretty good second-tier LT. I didn't think that about Diehl.
