To be fair, they won only 9 games total in those three seasons. It didn't matter much who played QB.

Todd Ellis - saw footage of him on YouTube. I'm about the same size as Ellis, and he was terrible in the games I saw. Started for awhile at South Carolina. Don't think he played in the NFL.

Denver drafted him in 1990, but he didn't make the team. Then, he played for the Sacramento Surge in the World League the next year, and that was it for his pro career.

Chuck Hartlieb - played against his younger brothers in high school, he was really good at Iowa but about 5-10 with a noodle arm. Didn't stick in the NFL.

Was better than Dan McGwire. Which might be an unfortunate thing, as a Seahawks fan. "What ifs" aren't really my thing but when I saw his name in this thread that's what came to mind, what if Hartlieb hadn't ultimately ended up the starter, then McGwire possibly doesn't transfer and would have been in the 1990 draft and Seattle probably doesn't end up with him (definitely not in the first round) ...

-I was surprised when they got Jay Novacek from the Cardinals in 1990, as he barely started in his first five seasons. But I saw playing at Wyoming, and was special.

-Other player I was shocked when he was let go was RB Paul Palmer, and after he was the star of the Cowboys lone win in 1989 at Washington. But time got it right, as he didn't played in the NFL after that season (he was a star in NFL Europe with the Barcelona Dragons, though).

The first time Nov caught my attention was as a Card next-to-last week of the '88 season. He gave the Eagles fits that game in the desert.

Paul Palmer...I saw him, as a Temple Owl, play against Syracuse at the Vet in '86. Bruce Arians was Temple's HC. Palmer was a Heisman candidate that year as a senior.
