NFLPA All-Pro team

Post by JohnTurney »

Like last year, nothing earth-shattering. They made a big deal last year about the NFLPA doing, I guess, a better job than media. And that's fine, it's good to get players' perspective

A few here on reputation ... you could say a not-too-Swift pick.

I also like "Max" Crosby ---

rules
Only active NFL players were eligible to vote, and each player could only vote once.
Players could not vote for themselves or for their teammates.
If a player missed five or more games as of Week 15 of the season, they were ineligible for a spot on the team.
Players voted for the position group they play in and line up against on the field. For example, centers could vote for: the best center, the best nose tackle, the best interior defensive lineman and the best off-ball linebacker in the league.
For the special teams (or “core teamers”) category, various player leaders from each locker room nominated their two top players for the ballot.

Packers actually got somebody! Of course it's just the NFLPA version, but I'm glad someone got recognition. I had to look at Nixon's stats, and I was surprised that they were pretty good. He takes more kicks out of the end zone than almost anybody else in the league, so there are a lot of <25-yard returns. But in turn, he occasionally gets some long ones.

Sewell will hopefully get recognition soon because I believe PFF ranked him the top tackle this year but I am not sure ...

Same two things stood out to me when I saw it yesterday: "Max" and of course Kelce at TE.

Interesting picks...cannot see anything that can be considered a "Rep" pick, some different names but that suggests thought behind the picks. My only gripe, and it's no big deal, is they picked two MLB instead of one MLB and one WILL/SAM type ... off the ball linebackers are pretty interchangeable .. so it's their team and can do it ... my personal preference is to try and have say a Warner/Wagner/Kuechly at one and a Lavonte David/Milano/Williams/JOK-type at the other

But I like their team

Surprised about Davis and Aiyuk, though they played well.

I like the rules set up for voting in this one. I'm surprised it took 'em so long to allow voting on this by the players.

TJ Watt should have been selected over Garrett. Watt has more sacks (19 vs 17), the most QB hits in the league (36), and tackles for loss (19 vs 17) than Garrett.

Didnt look like Parsons made 1st team All-Pro, assuming its AP that did the selections, while Watt did, along with Sewell and Gardner. Bobby Wagner made second team. Chris Jones is 1st team as well, along with Kittle. Purdy missed out on both 1st and 2nd team ...

Aubrey made it as a rookie and Mostert didnt make either team, though Williams was hot at the end of the year. LaPorta got 2nd team over Kelce.
