The Saints divisions
1967 Capital Dallas, Washington, Philly
1968 Century Browns, Steelers, Cardinals
1969 Capital Dallas, Washington, Philly
1970 West 49ers, Rams, Falcons

1968 they switched divisions with the Giants. 1969 they both switched back

Why did they switch divisions in the late 1960's?

IIRC this was to give all Eastern Conference teams a chance to play a home-and-home series with the NYG once in two years.

So the old East, Capital and Century, played each other every year.

The other 4 games were Coastal 1 year, Central the next. Except New Orleans and the Giants would play the 4 teams from those divisions that they didn't play the previous year.
