Notable games between two unbeatens
It could be an '8-0 vs 7-0' showdown as the case with Pats/Colts, 2007. It could even be a...'1-0 vs 1-0', lol, (Young-vs-Montana, '94). '2-0 vs 2-0' like tonight's Phi@TB affair, '3-0 vs 3-0', '4-0 vs 4-0', '5-0 vs 5-0', etc.
Whether a significantly hyped game going in, whether an actual great game, or both.
Which ones come to mind with you?

The 1990 NYG-SF game comes to mind. The Niners shut them down with Phil Simms frustrated and getting vocal with Ronnie Lott at the end of the game. At the time I felt the Niners could go unbeaten but once Craig got hurt, they were more one-dimensional, despite a great year from Montana

Several 0-0 vs. 0-0 games...
1950 Browns vs. Eagles
1970 Chiefs vs. Vikings
1972 Dolphins vs. Chiefs
1987 Bears vs. Giants

1997, Wk#6, 4-0 Patriots at 5-0 Broncos, MNF.
Pete Carroll's first year in NE. Defending-AFC champs playing the very team who visited them the previous year; Shannon Sharpe calling to "Send in the National Guard, please!" Bledsoe said prior to the game that he already favored Pete as a HC over Tuna. Despite the Pats having a bye the previous week, Denver blows them out again anyway.
1992, Wk#5, 3-0 Cowboys at 3-0 Eagles, also MNF.
Both teams get a bye the week prior. The 31-7 Philly result should be considered the "last breath" of SB-flirtation for the Reggie White era Eagles whilst considered the last growing pain of the Big D Dynasty to come in just a few months! I'm still surprised that this game wasn't mentioned in the 'America's Game' episode on the '92 Cowboys (just like I'm surprised that the late loss to Dallas wasn't mentioned in the 1980 Raiders AG ep).

Thats right Mark ... had forgotten about that. I should have looked that game up.
Re: Notable games between two unbeatens
It was hyped as a possible matchup of unbeatens but then they both screwed it up. Someone could do a thread of most hyped regular season games. That one seems to be #1 in my memory. Maybe Redskins-Cowboys from 1983 would be in the conversation but since I am a Redskins fan my perception of how hyped that game was nationally could be exaggerated.Brian wolf wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2023 10:20 pm Thats right Mark ... had forgotten about that. 1973 Week #6 LA Rams at Minnesota Vikings both at 6-0. In a defensive struggle the Vikes prevail 10-9. I believe a 50-yard+ FG attempt by Rams kicker David Ray was blocked at the end of game. Hurting the Rams was the unavailability of star RB Lawrence McCutcheon. A lot of the country did not get to see the game because of the NFL black out rules of the era.

1981 Week 3: TNF, Eagles at Bills at Rich Stadium. At the time both teams were among the preseason favorites to go to the Super Bowl. The Eagles won 20-14 after trailing in the half 14-10.
