After three quarters the Raiders lead 3 to 0. Total yards were 277 for Oakland and 194 for Kansas City. The Chiefs intercepted two passes, which kept the game close. Emmit Thomas did not advance his interception but Willie Mitchell returned his 27 yards. Oakland recorded three sacks for 18 yards while The Chiefs had only one sacks for 13 yards.
Daryle Lamonica completed 11 of 20 passes for 188 yards and a touchdowns. Warren Wells caught one pass for 27 yards and Fred Biletnikoff caught three for 41 yards. Charlie Smith ran eight yards for the Raider touchdown. Len Dawson completed two of six passes for 47 yards. Wendell Hayes scored the Chief’s touchdown on a short run.
The Chiefs finished at 11-3 Oakland was 12-1-1.
The playoffs saw the first place team in the West, Oakland at home, defeat the second place team in the East. The Houston Oilers, at 6-6-2, lost to the Raiders 56 to 7. The playoff saw the second place team in the West, Kansas City on the road, defeat the first place team in the East. The New York Jets, at 10-4, lost to the Chiefs 13 to 6.

For my money, Dawson's season was one of the toughest, most heroic a QB has ever gone through ... Though he probably still wasnt feeling well from being sick after winning the SB, I bet as soon as he was feeling great, he got DRUNK !!
