...an aspect of the "a" formation that was successful many times for the giants was having the right side of the line(say unbalanced right)pull and go left, while the left side follows their blocking rules and takes the defender nearest them(an offensive back is part of the left side) creating a running play back to the supposed "weak side"(which really is not since we now out number the defenders). the giants running attack of '50 remains one of the best in history, and believe stout steve could have lined up in many alignments and had success. in the game against the colts, nyg switches to the t-formation with travis tidwell, and comes from behind to destroy the colt defense on the ground. 9 times during the '50 season a giant runner had a run of 50 yards or more, the most in league history. when watching joe gibbs with the 'skins and counter trey; many of the same elements(steve owen probably smiled in his grave).
