Chuck Foreman scored 22 TDs in 1975 - that would have tied the all-time record set by Gale Sayers. O.J. Simpson scored 23 TDs that year, however. Foreman would have led the league in TDs 3 seasons in a row if he had led the league in 1975. He did lead the NFL in receptions in 1975.

Coincidentally, Sayers scored 22 TDs to set the record in 1965, the same year Jim Brown would have set the record with 21. Which also reminds me that the day Gale Sayers had 6 TDs vs SF in 1965, Paul Hornung had 5 TDs against the Colts.

Marino had his monster season in 1984 and was an absolute phenomenon. Meanwhile Neil Lomax in St. Louis threw for an insane 4,600+ yards, which at the time was the 4th most in NFL history behind Marino and two Fouts seasons. Lomax led the NFC (3rd in the NFL) in TD passes with 28 and rushed for an additional 3.

He did all this behind a pitiful offensive line which got him sacked 49 times (only Simms, Paul McDonald, and Eason were sacked more) and hit/knocked down countless other times. Marino was only sacked 14 times...granted some of that is due to his lighting quick release and great pocket presence. For the most part though Marino could get through games without getting touched while Lomax was under duress constantly.

Great call on Lomax. Very overlooked player in general.
