I read an online article the other day about how - with A.R. moving to the Jets (and TB12 having announced his {real?} retirement) - the AFC has the CLEAR edge in QB talent right now.
That seems to be the case. Off the top of my head the only current NFC QBs of note that I can think of are: Dak Prescott and Kirk Cousins. If you want, throw Jalen Hurts in there. Daniel Jones had a good season with the NYG last year - but before that he was a HUGE "?" in N.Y. Derek Carr is now in N.O. but I, personally, have never thought of him as more than an "adequate" NFL QB. Maybe slightly above average, if you want to be generous. Jared Goff is decent, but I wouldn't call him "notable." Matthew Stafford? I've never thought of him as anything more than an average NFL QB, either (and my stance on that remains the same despite his team's S.B. victory after the 2021 season). Brock Purdy looked like a budding star until that UCL injury in the NFC title game. Who knows where his career goes from here?
I remember an S.I. cover from around 1977/'78 depicting guys like Bert Jones and Terry Bradshaw driving a steamroller over their NFC counterparts as the cover article was about the AFC's dominance of the league at the time (although I don't recall if that "dominance" was about teams or just quarterbacks).
This seems the perfect place to ask: can anybody remember the last time one conference in the NFL appeared to have such a lopsided edge in terms of starting QB talent?
2023 QB Carousel
Re: 2023 QB Carousel
My understanding is that Broadway Joe gave A.R. permission to wear #12 in N.Y. but (apparently in deference to the Jets legend) Aaron Rodgers will wear #8 in N.Y. - the same # he wore at Cal.ChrisBabcock wrote:I wonder if Broadway Joe will allow the unretiring of #12.Rodgers is now a Jet and will wear #8 in honor of Browning Nagle ... juss kiddin
Re: 2023 QB Carousel
Very happy with Rodgers. I think his hand will be fully healed and he will turn in an excellent season. With where this defense is and the weapons they've added on O...you just can't trot out flawed project QB's like Darnold and Wilson. I honestly have no idea what they ever saw in Wilson to begin with. I think a lot of what happened with Rodgers in 2022 was hand related and the lack of weapons in Green Bay. He'll have some better support with the Jets. I can see a nice 2 year revitalizing run for him. Hopefully one of these two years the Jets are able to actually get to a SB

I had forgotten Mecole Hardman joined the Jets. If he can stay healthy and take the top off of secondaries with his speed, Wilson, Davis and Lazard might catch a lot of balls ... Hopefully Hardman's career despite SB wins, doesnt turn out like Will Fuller's ...
Jackson finally signed with the Ravens. We will see which rookie QB gets more playing time, Young, Stroud or Richardson. Or another one from this weekend?
