4 players with double-digit sacks on same team
4 players with double-digit sacks on same team
It looks like the Eagles might have 4 players who finish with double-digit sack totals. Has this ever happened before, even if just in an 'unofficial' capacity? I looked at the 67 Raiders (Birdwell & Keating had 9 sacks each) and the 69 Vikes (Page had only 9 sacks, Larsen 8) and they came close but only had two players with double-digit sacks. How many times has a team had three guys with 10+ sacks?

The 1969 LA Rams Fearsome Foursome came close....Deacon Jones 15 Merlin Olsen 11 Coy Bacon 8 Diron Talbert 7.5.

Using the PFR stats with sacks provided by John Turney, there are no teams that had four players with double digit sacks. 35 teams had three players.
Here are the near misses:
Closest is 1964 Colts. Braase, Marchetti, Fred Miller, Billy Ray Smith at 9.5. Some of the older seasons are incomplete, but it appears this season is complete.
1984-1986 Raiders came oh so close. 1984 has Bill Pickel, Howie Long, Rod Martin, then Greg Townsend at 7.0. 1985 it's Pickel, Townsend, Long, then Sean Jones at 8.5 and Martin at 7.0. Then 1986 it's Jones, Pickel, Townsend, and Long at 7.5. Pickel's an interesting guy, three big seasons, then he fell way off and finished his career as a backup. Back injury?
1968 Vikings had Page, Marshall, Larsen, Carl Eller at 8.0. Eller had seven subsequent double digit sack seasons, but 1969 was his first.
1989 Vikings Chris Doleman, Keith Millard, Al Noga, Henry Thomas at 9.0.
1970 Rams Deacon Jones, Coy Bacon, Diron Talbert, Merlin Olsen 8.5.
Others with 3 and a fourth with at least 7 sacks: 1983 Cardinals, 2013 Bills, 1984 Bears, 1976 Colts, 1985 Giants, 1976 49ers, 1989 Eagles.

Wow ... In addition to having four players with double digit sacks, though Sweat is now hurt, the Eagles also have 68 sacks and are what, five from a new record? I think the Bears record is 72. Can this be a special year? Suh and Cox could get another ring as well or Vegas will make bank on an Eagles upset in the playoffs ...

1957 Bears had ~60 sacks. I wonder how many got 10?
