Terrible Coaching Jobs In Only Season With Teams

Post by Brian wolf »

With the Broncos firing HC Nathaniel Hackett BEFORE his first and only season was complete, the team will try again for 2023 ... Other than Les Steckel, was there ever, any worse coaching job for a HC in his only year with the team?

Either of Harvey Johnson's stints with the Bills in the late 60s/early 70s. They guy was not cut out to be a head coach. He was a scout who Ralph Wilson went to twice to fill a coaching vacancy. Career record of 2-23-1.

Well, of course! The on and, of course also, off-field stuff...he should be incredibly grateful that the 'stink' of that didn't at all prevent him from getting right back into the college game as a commentator (and potentially HC again) as if 2021 in Jax never even happened at all!

When it comes to coaches who brought their reputations with them, Lou Holtz has to be in the discussion. Seven years of decent, perhaps overhyped, success in college, then a one-year floperoo with the Jets. His 13-game run as an NFL head coach would stand alone as a low point (minus interim coaches) until Bobby Petrino came along.

Steve Wilks in 2018 with the Arizona Cardinals. I am amazed he got another job with the Panthers (albeit an interim one) and that they are still alive for the playoffs this year.

Do you Matt Eberflus will survive another season with the Bears? His 2022 has been very bad. Freddie KItchens was also very bad with the 2019 Cleveland Browns.

I think so but who knows ? The team still needs more talent. Fields is still learning but they could have had another three wins ... I dont think Sean Payton will go to Denver. He will either wait to go to Dallas or continue tv but you never know ...
