Was curious what the record is for receiving TD passes caught in consecutive games? I came across Bob Shaw.
In the Rams last regular season game of 1949 he caught 4 TD passes. In his first game in 1950, the Cardinals 2nd game, he caught 5 TD passes. At least I think it was the first game he played in 1950. If it was, how would the record be determined? Consecutive games or consecutive games played?

Re: Receiving record TD passes caught in consecutive games?
Jerry Rice and Kellen Winslow are the only other two players to have 5 TDs in a game (per PFR).
Neither of them had 4 in the game either prior to or after their record setting games so I would venture a guess that Bob Shaw holds that record.

Shaw had an eventful life. A HS stud in 3 sports in Ohio (all-state in FB and hoops), member of the Buckeyes' first natl championship team, served as a grunt in Europe in WWII, won an NFL title as a rookie with Cleveland Rams, was a fine 2-way end with Rams & Cards, selected for first Pro Bowl in 1950, had a long career as player & coach in Canada and NFL, married for 63 years, lived to be 89. Certainly worthy of a Coffin Corner bio, if one hasn't already been done.
