Clark and Frank Shaughnessy

Does anyone happen to know whether Clark Shaughnessy is related to Frank "Shag" Shaughnessy? Shag was a prominent coach in Canadian football.

Clark is not mentioned in Frank's sabr bio. Those are usually pretty comprehensive. That's not saying that it's not possible that they were related, but there's a good chance that sabr would have mentioned it if they were.

They don't look alike either. Different eyebrows, chins, etc.





It's too bad they probably aren't related. It would make for an interesting article. Shag Shaughnessy shook up football in Canada. The Canadians complained he was Americanizing the game by doing such things as (gasp!) using linebackers instead of putting everyone except a safety or two on the line.

Yeah, it would be cool if they were related, but it doesn't seem likely. Interesting that they both had such an impact on the game with that same last name.
