Absolutely. And running the tight formations while in the shotgun is perplexing, and without stretching the defense, the receivers don't get open. Then there are the clock management issues.
There was another post on the forum discussing how the shotgun and pistol formations are so prevalent in today's game. A shotgun formation near the goal line in the 1980s would have been unthinkable, let alone doing it 7 times. Imagine Montana lining up in shotgun on the GWTD to Taylor in SB 23.

I'm so used to seeing the Cardinals be mediocre (or worse). They've really surprised me this season. For the record - I have nothing against the Cardinals. Nothing at all. Matter of fact I'd much rather see them win their division or go to the S.B. than the Rams!
