Congratulations to Cliff Branch and Dick Vermeil !!

Can any writers explain why Buddy Parker is not getting elected ? Was he too racist a coach or just simply ignored ?
Or too much credit was given to Layne ?

Re: Branch and Vermeil are the picks
Some questions that race through my mind...
1. Did I hear correctly that the 1st runner-up was Klecko?
2. Were Clay Matthews and Maxie Baughan among the 15 senior finalists, not on the list last year? (This is Clay's first year in the senior abyss)
3. I heard Eddie Meador was a finalist, and there was a strong push for him. Did I hear/interpret correctly?
4. Who else made the list who didn't make it last year?

Re: Branch and Vermeil are the picks
Drew Pearson was the advisor for the senior committee
wonder how much that helped Branch as opposed
to the LBers or DBs---maybe none, maybe some

Re: Branch and Vermeil are the picks
Vermeil is an inspired selection. When the Eagles hired him from UCLA, it was a very questionable hire at the time. College coaches tended not to do well in the NFL, and Vermeil hadn't really accomplished all that much at the collegiate level other than beating Ohio State in the Rose Bowl (which seemingly everyone did in that era). Quite an amazing accomplishment to be in the HOF.
I am lukewarm with the Branch selection. He played in 22 postseason games and scored in 4 of them. (Biletnikoff 19 - 7, Swann 16 - 8, Stallworth 18 - 10). I guess its similar to the Drew Pearson (22 - 6) selection...Branch caught his postseason TDs in the Super Bowl, and that's what people remember. Harold Jackson was better than Branch. Jackson led the NFL in receiving yardage while catching passes from John "Florida Flop" Reaves, Rick Arrington & Pete Liske.

Does the election of Carmichael, Pearson and Branch help Jackson now ... or hinder him ?
