would be a film guy---better on film than honors.Eagles One wrote:Rich Saul. Twelve seasons at center for a Rams' team which went to the NFC Championship Game a number of times including an appearance in the Super Bowl. 6X Pro Bowler consecutively.
full time starter beginning in 1975---played about 1/4 to 1/2 the game in 1973-74
no rank in 1975
76 = 2
77 = 7
78 = 2
79 =2
80 ==1
81 =3
But still, is THAT worth the honor? I'd say no
was a great special teams player---one of best 1970-73
but can Proscout grades override short career as starter and
not being a consensus All-Pro? Likely no.
I depends if these grades from say, PSI or George Allen
or others we can find---mean anything or now, if they
add t o the picture or not

Hey John,
After reading the OP I went and looked up Saul and his predecessor, Ken Iman on PFR.
I remember Iman as a good center on my favorite team as a kid, the Rams.
But he also played for the Packers in the early 60's... and I was surprised to see Ken had two sacks for Green Bay in 1962.
Would you please relate the circumstances of Iman's DL play?
Goal line? 5th down lineman? Nose guard?

other centers with sacks, Ray Mansfield, who was a linemen before he
switched
Same with Len St. Jean
though it was before 1960, Del Shofner had one sack when he was a DB, in 1959

Interesting stuff!
Center/Linebackers have a special place in my heart.
Thanks, John.
