Hey Guys:
Do any of you know the particulars of the acquisition of Larry Watkins from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Buffalo Bills in 1973? I need to know the exact date that Watkins was obtained by the Bills, and who (or what draft choices/money) Lou Saban traded away to get him. Thanks once again guys!

Most newspaper reports of the trade were 8/17/1973. I usually assume the trade happened the prior day.

It was a straight player trade for linebacker Dick Cunningham.

The Sporting News Football Register 1975 edition states the trade was made on 8/16/1973 and Watkins was traded for Dick Cunningham, as stated previously.

Looks like he was traded on Aug 16, 1973 for Dick Cunningham. Hope that helps....

Jim Braxton was injured going into the 1973 season. Larry Watkins was obtained to replace him. Braxton didn't come back until week 9 and was very effective alongside O.J. the rest of the year, blocking and running.
