1943 Steagles uniform question
1943 Steagles uniform question
Gridiron Uniform Database has them simply wearing an Eagles uniform...
...and I've read accounts that stated this.
But it appears that the Steagles used elements of both the Eagles (helmet, jersey) and Steelers (pants, socks) uniforms.
Which is correct?

Yeah I was going to say the photo definitely doesn't look like it was taken in the '40's and those guys in the photos definitely don't look like people who lived in the 40's. And that modern day truck there in the background definitely gives it away.
I do wonder what the purpose for them creating that image was for though. That would be interesting to find out. Definitely was an amateur job though as they didn't even bother to make sure the truck was out of the photo.

FWIW, this is the photo that shows up on both the Eagles and the Steelers websites as the '43 Steagles starters:

https://www.steelers.com/news/steelers- ... s-13194444 (photo number 30 of 38 in the slide show, so you have to click; photo 31 may be from that squad as well ... looks like Ben Kish (44) and Ray Zimmerman (7) in that photo); action photos are that are same uniform.
