Opposite for me, but that does seem to be the direction given the two coaches selected.rewing84 wrote:If they go more living I'd be content

I'm interested to see if Donnie Shell will be inducted as part of the Centennial Class.

Thanks, John. Boy, do I ever hope your predictions are right. Dilweg, Slater, Wistert, and Speedie would make me really, really happy.JohnTurney wrote:My ranks

Good Contributor choices also, can live with these fine. Will be very surprised if Tags isn’t one of them, as he’s not getting in otherwise.
BTW, you’ve got Branch twice. Maybe Gradishar? I’ll be kind of surprised if he doesn’t make it.

My guess is yes, especially after seeing Bill Cowher get in. Dick LeBeau is on the committee, and I’d bet he had his share of influence.sluggermatt15 wrote:I'm interested to see if Donnie Shell will be inducted as part of the Centennial Class.

Lets say some of my predictions are right, and there is no sure way to know, we,I guess,
have to accept that voters can ignore the historical record of a player's "resume" for
lack of a better word and have to allow the "testimony" thing take a bigger role
With Carmichael, we know his numbers, okay---and he know his honors (never consensus)
but was All-Pro once and second-team a couple of times. Let's say
he's "above the line" in 1973, 1974, 77-80 but he's not far above the line
as in consensus All-Pro. That does set or lower the bar
The stories will be "he's 6-8 and was dominate from 1973-82" and was this and that
but "no one could cover him" and "he changed the game" and "he was the FIRST big
WR that you saw dominate in the 1990s-2000s. That kind of thing.
ANd maybe some is true, though I would doubt some of that, it just means
the door is wide open for any 1-time All-Pro that a case can be made for.
People forget Tommy Nobis was just 1-time All-Pro and then 5-6
seasons "above the line".
If he gets in, re-read Carmichael.
