I'm trying to think off the top of my head which ones were REALLY good. Zimmerman and McDaniel. Jones and Hutchinson. Roaf and Waters. Upshaw and Shell. What else is out there?

1923-24 Bears had Ed Healey at LT and Hunk Anderson at LG.

1937-42 Bears had Joe Stydahar at LT and Danny Fortmann at LG (Fortmann was RG in '36 and Stydahar in the Military in '43).

"Kramer and Gregg. Hannah and Gray."

Had it not been for the spite trade, I believe Hannah and Gray would be the best ever. While they were paired, they pushed all others to oblivion.
That "trade" was when the Patriots lost many fans forever.

Upon hearing the news, John Hannah said, "We just traded away our Super Bowl."

....though they looked bizarre lined-up next to each other, personal fav for a short time was bruno b. and bob st. clair on the right side of the line for sf. yet, since this was so short a time frame how about ernie mcmillan and ken gray on the right side of the cardinal line from 62 through 69. they were durable, both gained recognition, and the cardinals even won games from 63-68!

Dierdorf and Dobler (if I remember correctly, they did play on the same side ...)

Oddly enough, they both played on the left side in 1972 and on the right side from 1974 through 1981. In 1973, Dierdorft played LT and Dobler played RG.

Herbert Scott and Pat Donovan manhandled he left side for Dallas in the early 80s, and they were always one of the top offenses. The same with Doug Wilkerson and Russ Washington for the Air Coryell's Chargers.

Of course, Russ Grimm and Joe Jacoby led the Hogs in Washington, and Mark Bortz and Jimbo Covert helped Walter Payton became the rushing king. Nate Newton and Mark Tuinei did the same for Emmitt Smith. Dennis Harrah and Jackie Slater of the Rams were the best right side tandem for the past 30 years.

Several combinations from Cleveland's lines in the '50's and '60's: Hickerson and McCormack, Groza and Smith, Schafrath and Smith (not sure of any others).

Matt Light and Logan Mankins were a really good combo for several years there.

The combo you're thinking of was actually Washington and Ed White. Wilkerson played on the left side.

Those kinds of plays were expected."

Nate Newton and Mark Tuinei were pretty darn solid. On the other side was Kevin Gogan and Erik Williams with Mark Stepnoski in the middle. Makes for a good offensive line.
