For years, only the number of tickets sold was reported. Then, from about 1973 until the late '90s, most game books included both that and actual attendance (and thus no-shows). Now we only get actual attendance.
Does anyone know why both figures haven't always been (and don't continue to be) reported? Is there an unofficial source for such info?
attendance figures
Re: attendance figures
What you get now (well, since the late 1990s) in the gamebooks is whatever the home wants to report. For some teams it's the turnstile count, but for most it's the paid attendance including the no-shows.Citizen wrote:For years, only the number of tickets sold was reported. But even the team-by-team season paid totals listed in the Record & Fact Book often don't add up to the yearly league-wide paid totals in the Record & Fact Book.
Re: attendance figures
That's true. I've noticed especially that the Cowboys have been reluctant to report a genuine head count over the years.
