Six TD passes in first half

Post by Citizen »

Aaron Rodgers last night became the second quarterback in league history to accomplish this. Daryle Lamonica was the first, against Buffalo on 10/19/69.

Indeed, he was.
But, in the great state of Wisconsin, there must be 100,000 cheeseheads who looked to the Heavens
and remembered the words of Saint Vincent:
"The only thing that matters is first place. Everything else is hinky-dinky."
In Rodgers' case, 2nd is not so bad but why not give him the shot at going for it all -
especially against such a long-time arch-rival?

The Bears became the first team to give up 50 points in consecutive games since...the Rochester Jeffersons in 1923.

Rodgers threw his 16th TD pass of 70 yards or more, now the NFL record. He had been tied with Peyton Manning and Favre for that record.

That is a surprise, I would have thought Marino would have had that record. One doesn't typically think of Rodgers as a QB who was known for the bomb like Jurgensen, Namath, Fouts or Marino.

The Packers have thrown a lot of long passes since McCarthy took over and Rodgers is an exceptionally accurate long-range passer.

Incidentally, it's pretty impressive that Rodgers has done it in about 6 1/2 years as a starter, while Manning is in his 16th season as a starter and Favre started for 19 seasons.

"Incidentally..."

Monumental might be more fitting?
The feat itself is outstanding - approximately one-third the time is almost beyond words.
