The article you attached said the Salinas Packers had silver helmets.
Was the Iceberg in the team name refereing to lettuce?

Yes, Iceberg Lettuce. They grow tons of it in the Salinas area.

Nope, I can't any reference to their team colors beyond the helmets.

Thanks Tod. Based on the photo it is hard to tell, though the silver helmets are easy to spot. They could be red or blue or green from the medium shade of grey from the photo. I guess when I colorized it I can pick what I like!

They had silver helmets, and blue and silver uniforms.

THanks Reaser, after Tod didn't know I went ahead (get it) and colorized them as blue shirts and silver pants to go with silver helmets. But thanks for confirming it . . . they have a circular logo on front of jersey with what may be a head of lettuce on it, so I made that lettuce green.
