The '68 Colts immediately come to mind as do the unbeaten Patriots team and the Rams team that lost to NE. Good picks on early 70s 49ers and the '76 Patriots.

The 1976-79 Los Angeles Rams. Or the entire 1973-79 Rams era.

I would include 1980 in that as well. Their 1978 and 80 teams may have been the best that they had in that era.

The 1998 Minnesota Vikings immediately come to mind for me. Certainly would have been a more entertaining SB that year if the Falcons had not upset them. The 1984 Miami Dolphins also fit the category. Both record-setting seasons with no ring at the end.

But hey, Marino just needed to take his lumps. He was going to be in a lot of Super Bowls with how he took the league by storm
