Two years removed from their "Too Legit" campaign, two years prior to their next playoff appearance (June Jones/Jeff George, a totally different team). They start out 0-5. Deion not yet being present in that stretch didn't help.
However, with three games to go, they were 6-7 coming off a win vs San Fran. Three weeks earlier, they snap Dallas' 7-game win-streak albeit Aikman out and #22 not playing in 2nd-half. Falcons were up 13-0 going into the half though and Kosar a more-than-ample backup for Dallas at the time. The Vikings, who would make the playoffs, were also 6-7 at the time before winning-out rest of way. Not sure if Atl winning-out would have given them a tie-breaker over Minn (both would have had the same conference record in such an event), but each opponent down stretch was very winnable yet lose to all three. First to the 3-10 Redskins, then the following week allow Dave Klinger a great game at Riverfront; bow to Cards, 27-10, at home in finale albeit to a respectable Joe Bugel squad.
Bobby Hebert had a career year. Future-Steeler/SBXXX-participant Ericc Pegram had a great year (career-best) as well. Glanville - and Deion - would be gone after the season. 'What-if #21 played the entire season' and 'what went wrong final 3 games' the two things to say about this very campaign.

That was they year that they added Jumpy Geathers and Pierce Holt to their D-line in FA. I also remember Hebert being their QB. He is the reason why I don't think they would have went that far if they did have Deion all year and did well enough to make the playoffs. Bobby wasn't a clutch QB in New Orleans. Going into the final three games, Hebert had a sore elbow and had thrown 10 picks in the previous three games.
*Since the Falcons running game had been sketchy up to that point, the Redskins geared their game plan to harassing Hebert. The Skins got seven sacks and picked off Hebert four times--one of them a pick-six. The interception yardage was more than twice of the Redskins running attack.
*The Bengals scored the game-winner with just over a minute left, but the Falcons blew plenty of opportunities. The Bengals focused on attacking the other cornerback, 5-8 Darnell Walker and Klingler hooked up with 6-2 Carl Pickens seven times, including the game-winner. On that score, Walker expected a fade route, but Pickens just stopped at the goal line and got the TD.
*In the now-meaningless finale, the Cardinals converted four Falcon turnovers into 17 points.

Jerry Glanville's defense being the worst in the NFL for two years running probably would have hindered them in the postseason as well.7DnBrnc53 wrote: I also remember Hebert being their QB.
