I was reading Peter King's column just now and I noticed that Antonio Brown's current league leading receiving stats looked very similar to Clifton McNeil's 1968 league leading final statistics.
McNeil after 14 games: 71-994
Brown after 9 games: 71-996
There has probably been more extreme examples of new age receiving stats but the similarity of the two struck me.

Re: The Times They've Been a Changing...
On Friday, the New York Post had the top 10 passers listed for each conference. The top 10 American Football Conference passers had combined for 138 touchdown passes and 38 interceptions. 138 to 38. That is ridiculous. The interception is going the way of the dodo.
The Jets have recorded one interception through 9 games. This is partially because the Jets have defenders with bad hands but it is also a sad sign of the times for those of us who enjoy interceptions.

Re: The Times They've Been a Changing...
....when the packers set the existing record of highest int% in '43 they intercepted 18 of 81 pass attempts in a three game span. when the lightning bolts picked off 49 in '61 opponents attempted more....qb's have learned their lessons well in this era; so when a defensive player has a chance to pilfer a pass....best not drop it, might be your only chance in the entire game.

The Jets may have recorded just one interception but they're pretty good at throwing them - 11 so far includingKing Kong wrote:On Friday, the New York Post had the top 10 passers listed for each conference.
