1969 KC Chiefs Defense

Post by Halas Hall »

I believe the 1969 Chiefs defense now has six starters in the Hall of Fame: Buchanan, Culp, Lanier, Bell, Robinson, and Thomas. Is anyone aware of another team that has done this?

There are some others on that defense that had noteworthy careers - at least Jerry Mays, Jim Kearney, and Jim Lynch.

Good guess, but not quite. The '70s Steelers teams only had four - Mel Blout, Jack Ham, Jack Lambert, and Joe Greene. L.C. Greenwood, Ernie Holmes, and Dwight White are not in the PF HoF.

The 1965-67 Packers had six: Davis and Jordan up front, Nitschke and Robinson at linebacker and Adderly and Wood in the secondary.

Aaron Brown was a stud that year. Never was healthy after that.

Jim Marsalis was highly regarded for a while.

Excellent statistics in all phases.
